چکیده

The most common technology for the recovery of energy and valuable materials from sewage sludge is anaerobic digestion (AD). Ensuring thermophilic conditions during AD has been proven to cause process intensification an improvement in its final outcomes. Nonetheless, search underway other methods bolster effectiveness aerobic granular (AGS), which characterized by a compact complex structure. A prospective AGS pre-treatment entails use solidified carbon dioxide (SCO2). present study focused on evaluation with SCO2 technological effects. It evaluated effect method changes concentrations organic biogenic compounds dissolved phase yield kinetics biogas methane production periodical reactors, as well enabled development empirical organizational model production. introduced caused increase content COD, N-NH4+, P-PO43− at SCO2/AGS volumetric ratios ranging 0 0.3. further dose did not any statistically significant differences this respect. highest yields were obtained 0.3 reached 482 ± 21 cm3/gVS 337 14 cm3/gVS, respectively. higher doses used led decrease pH value AGS, which, turn, contributed decreasing CH4 concentration biogas.

Optimization of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge Using Thermophilic Anaerobic Pre-Treatment

In this study, we investigated by running continuous stirred tank reactor the effects of different thermophilic temperatures (55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and 80C) for different hydraulic retention times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 days, respectively) on the pretreatment of sewage sludge. We found that hydrolysis was mainly determined by temperature instead of hydraulic retention time, i.e. the high...

Improvement of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge, Using Combined Hydrogen Peroxide and Thermal Pre-Treatment

The present study investigates the influence of individual and combined hydrogen peroxide and thermal pre-treatment of waste activated sludge on anaerobic digestion. For so doing, it employs anaerobic batch reactors in the mesophilic conditions. For comparison, soluble fractions of organic matter, biogas production, biochemical methane potential, removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), and vol...

Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion of Activated Sludge; Reduction of Solids and Pathogenic Microorganisms

In the temperature range of 10 to 80 ºC and in a batch digester, a typical activated sludge was digested aerobically. Reaction rate constants were determined by measuring the amounts of volatiles removed from the suspended solids at different time intervals during the process. The maximum value of the reaction rate constant (0.45 d-1) occurred in the temperature...

The one-stage autothermal thermophilic aerobic digestion for sewage sludge treatment: stabilization process and mechanism.

Batch experiment was carried out in a simulated thermophilic aerobic digester to investigate the digestion process of one-stage autothermal thermophilic aerobic digester and to explore the sludge stabilization mechanism. Volatile solids removal was 38.4% at 408 h and 45.0% at 552 h. Chemical oxidation demand, total nitrogen, and ammonia nitrogen in supernatant increased rapidly up to 168 h, and...
